Back From Moulin Rouge!
Rain or Shine! What an amazing weekend! Beside the fact I got sick as a dog. I dreaded having to wake up Monday morning and drive back to Vegas from Manhattan beach. Downing juice, tea and cold drops I was able to manage half way. Thanks to my friend Dorthey she drove the rest of the way. I had coughed so hard my head popped off and I couldn't see the road anymore. Thank you Dorthey. I still have yet to unload my truck with all my flea market finds and workshop designs. I hope tomorrow will be a new day and I will be able to function. I knew I was a die hard, but Sunday proved nothing can stop me from going to the flea market or antique shops. Feeling like my head was as big as "Jack" from Jack in the Box, I put on my A game and went for it. Starting my sickness the day before, coughing my head off feeling like I was hit in the head with a double hit bat swing with no cough and cold medicine. It wasn't just me feeling this way. There were a few other ladies that were catching the same Can Can bug. Anyway, Sunday was our big day on the tour bus. Weather for Sunday was 100% rain and windy. No problem! That morning a few of us wanted to go to cvs first for medicine. Yes, the bus took us there first. There were 56 girls on the bus and 10 of us got off for cold medicine. Thank God! Stocking up on cold medicine and rain ponchos I was set. Long beach flea market open "Rain or Shine"! Well that was an understatement. It was free to get in. Why? It was pouring rain every 30 seconds for the first 10 min then stopped. It was nice after that. Bundled up with boots, sweater, leather jacket and poncho I was good. I had my cart my hip pack my hands were free to touch and feel. There weren't as many venders as usual due to the weather, but enough tough sellers who didn't mind there items getting wet. We had only 1 1/2 Hrs. to shop. So not enough time! But considering the weather and less venders, it worked out perfect. In my state of fogginess I recall getting a lot of nice goodies. On my last stop I was wheeling and dealing over an early 1970's skate board. Then a couple of ladies from my group saw me and had said there was a guy selling early 1950's skateboards with the logos on them. Well make my head spin and send me in the right direction. Still leaving the last vender with my 70's Banana board, I headed the opposite way from the bus searching for this skateboard guy. Now the rain and wind started going crazy. Pulling my cart stacked with stuff my poncho was wrapped around my head I Was getting soaked, drenched and sopping wet. Unable to see anything in front of me because the rain was parallel and in my eyes(nice having water proof mascara)I was determined to find this guy. Looking thru raindrops, I found him! really not wanting to do this sale now that I found the boards... I had to. Made my fastest purchase ever and raced back to the bus loaded up. By the time I got to the bus I was dripping wet. I had 1 1/2 hrs to dry off before the next stop in San Diego. I wasn't doing to well by then. But I made it there and back safe but sick and it was well worth it. In a couple days I will post my goodies for you to see.

I was supposed to go on a road trip to Florida last weekend for "Danse De Fleur" a Marie Antoinette event. My plans had changed and I wasn't able to go. But... I was still apart of it vicariously. And now the big event is over and I can't wait to get mon paquet marie!

How long has it been?
Months, days and hours. I can't keep up!
Sometimes I wish I could stop the time for a couple days to catch up with life's ongoing traffic. Since October I have had so many different road blocks that once one would get clear there would be another. As of this week I hope the last of my life's changes will be out of the congestion and into the fresh air.
I will be changing things in my etsy store and finish all the things I have started. (we'll see)
I hope Febuary brings you all the love your Valentine can give (if you want it) and if your single maybe cupid just shot your unknown Valentine in the butt.
Until then or before "Happy Valentine's Day"

Considering June and July has come and gone, I didn't realize I haven't been on my blog since May. I was devoting my time to my "Mermaid swaps" for Les Siren's in Manhattan Beach, California hosted by Kim Caldwell* Artistic Bliss . I joined 3 swaps this time! What was I thinking? But... the finished products are amazing!
"Beach Coquette Collier" hosted by Christine Rose Elle* Dollybelle AtelierCollier (necklace) which each Mermaid had to make 7 fabric flowers and send 7 tiny sea shells to the hostess. There were other ladies that entered the swap doing the same as well. With all the pretties that were accumulated, Christine handmade each collar together with all the handmade flowers and shells for each of us ladies. There were 5 groups (I think) and each groups collars were different.
"Les Sirens Wall hanging assemblage" hosted by Joy Campbell* The Joys of Life
Each Siren that entered this swap made thirteen 3x3 squares in the theme of the Affaire. I had no Idea what or how this hanging was going to turn out. When I opened my envelope there was only one word I could think of... "Perfect"!
*Here is my square and my little bundle of goodies are from my vintage finds.
"Mermaid's Treasure Trinket Chest" hosted by Val Jones*
This swap was amazing! Each Sea Nymph who joined this group got a random name chosen for them with that mermaid's favorite thing's they had to post. You knew who you got, but you didn't know who got you. Then the giver would make a treasure chest filled full of all the pretties her receiver hopefully would love. I had so much fun collecting all the wonderful vintage finds and mermaid themed fatras. I started my collecting the day the swap opened. My treasure box was a vintage green carrying case that I decoupaged images on of lady fish and fancies. My Sea Nymph was Valerie Jones, who knew I would get the hostess!
This is my treasure box I received from Sea Nymph, Cynthia Flores. For a person that doesn't really know me and we spoke only a handful of times, really did a great job. I was so surprised when I received my treasure chest. It was so perfect of "Me" things you would have thought she came over and visited everyday. When we posted the things we like and colors, I didn't get it. I only put like three things down, Sea foam greens, french blues and vintage goodies. Wow! I didn't know what to say... except "Hell ya" "I fricken love it"! "Thank you"! I couldn't wait to look at every little piece of pretty. The weird thing is that I just had bought that mermaid pattern, so when I saw that on the top of my fancy jewelry box, It was as if she new. The starfish she had gotten from an estate sale. He's really cool looking, not like the processed shells from a gift shop. I was also impressed that she took the time to personalize my treasure chest with a scallop shell with the word's "The Tragic Queen of the Sea". Again, Merci beaucoup!
"Les Siren's"... another amazing retreat.

Back from Glitterfest!
Sensational! An amazing venue indeed. Im still trying to catch up from all the hard work and time I put into this event. I was up 36 hours until I hit the sheets that night after "Glitterfest," it was well worth it.
-Sleeping is no mean art: for its sake one must stay awake all day. ~Friedrich Nietzsche
All the artist and sellers had such a wonderful display of there beautiful goodies and les choses d'art that it was hard to move onto the next vender. It was very over welming for this "première minuterie" (first time vender).
My table space was perfect! I was against a wall, so I had the best view of everyone in the room. I had "deux aides" (Kristie & Tara) to help me manage my table. If they weren't their I would have "perdu mon esprit!"
Needless to say it was "Une grande expérience!"
This is my "Fatras" (stuff)
"Vintage glisse (slips) and hauts tubes (tube tops)" The slips are reconstructed to a shorter tunic length, handdyed for a softer outer look to be layered with your other fancy camisoles. Each slip comes with a one of a kind vintage brooch ranging from late 1800s to mid 1900's.
"Marie tabliers (aprons) with a vintage brooch and vintage fabric flower" Sewn from all vintage fabrics.
*Vintage Motley Crüe and Johnny Cash*
"These were my first deux hauts tubes (tube tops) to sell" On the back of these there is a separate piece of french vintage fabric attached to these hard to find vintage t-shirts. Each top is sewn with an expandable elastic so that they fit to most body types. All tube tops have finished edges and have a decorative pocket in the front made from the same fabric as in the back with a fabric rose to match.
One size fits most!
"Here is a collage of my vintage beautés et les bonbons" Now its time for me to get the remaining mélange in my Esty Faire. Leave a comment and let me know what you think. ♥Keep checking back for June's giveaway!

Happy Birthday to me!
Today is my Birthday and I am 43!
Where does the time go? I've been so overwhelmed with all my vintage plethora getting ready for Glitterfest I haven't had time to think about anything else. I used to have Birthday months then weeks and yes count downs until my day. Now it doesn't matter. I guess I finally grew up. I still buy myself a gift every year. The gifts are usually not planned but on a whim. Last night I was taking a break from packaging my Fatras, and started to check my e-mails. While I was logging in, I was looking for something on my desk and I came across a torn out article on "Vintage buying tips", It's been lying here for weeks. Anyway... on the back of the article there was an ad for "Cire Trudon" Marie Antoinette candle. I can't believe I didn't notice it! I just had to have it.
So I went on Aedes which is a perfumer boutique... It took a few minutes to locate the candle but I found it. I ended up buying 2 of the candles (by the way they were the last two) and since its my "Birthday", I would like to share the same gift to one of my Followers/Fans to kick off my Blog and Birthday together.
*All there is to do, is to be a Follower on my Blog page or Following my Blog thru my fan page "Tragic Queen Vintage" on Facebook.
1) Leave a comment 2) Make sure I have contact information incase your the "grand gagnant!"
*Name will be drawn on Monday, May 18th 11:59 pm

Im so excited!
Im officially registered for "Marie's Danse des fleur"! I've been waiting patiently since I spotted it on"My Artful Adventures" Blog a few months ago. I can't wait to dress up in my provocative "robe a la polonaise, with its bosom-enhancing bodice and its billowy, ankle-baring skirt, the whole crowned by a "pouf,"a 3-foot mountain of powdered hair decked with plumes, veils, and other objects arranged as saucy references to my alter ego.
All this and more ...

Welcome to my blog and artful adventures. I'm just getting started in the blog world of portals and passages. I never knew what a blog was until I received a calling card with a typepad.com at the end of a shop name. I think it was Artistic Bliss. Talk about intimidating! Fichtre! I had no Idea what a blog or a typepad was. Im not even sure where I got the card. So while I was web surfing (this was before I needed to set a timer) I came across a business card from Kim Caldwell, Proprietor & Designer of Artistic Bliss Designs. On her card she had her shop web site, email and blog. I actually thought a blog was some type of new email. So I went to the shop web site and gazed around. I clicked on her products and what eye candy did I see? Totes! She makes these beautiful vintage style craft totes that any crafter would sell their soul for (at least I would have). I tried to buy one and they were sold out. Thats when the determination set in. So I kept searching around her site hoping that an unsold bag would turn up and thats when I saw the button "Artistic Bliss Blog". I clicked on the button, wondering what I was going to see, I was actually excited to find out what was behind the "Blog" button. When the page popped up, I had no Idea what to do, where to start or how your supposed to read it. I didn't care... I began to click on all the other blogs she had listed and continued... blog after blog after blog. I was amazed at how one page took me to so many different varieties of people and places. Thats when the fascination and fixation began.
I'm loving every word, I hope you do to.
Amusez-vous!
