Back From Moulin Rouge!
Rain or Shine! What an amazing weekend! Beside the fact I got sick as a dog. I dreaded having to wake up Monday morning and drive back to Vegas from Manhattan beach. Downing juice, tea and cold drops I was able to manage half way. Thanks to my friend Dorthey she drove the rest of the way. I had coughed so hard my head popped off and I couldn't see the road anymore. Thank you Dorthey. I still have yet to unload my truck with all my flea market finds and workshop designs. I hope tomorrow will be a new day and I will be able to function. I knew I was a die hard, but Sunday proved nothing can stop me from going to the flea market or antique shops. Feeling like my head was as big as "Jack" from Jack in the Box, I put on my A game and went for it. Starting my sickness the day before, coughing my head off feeling like I was hit in the head with a double hit bat swing with no cough and cold medicine. It wasn't just me feeling this way. There were a few other ladies that were catching the same Can Can bug. Anyway, Sunday was our big day on the tour bus. Weather for Sunday was 100% rain and windy. No problem! That morning a few of us wanted to go to cvs first for medicine. Yes, the bus took us there first. There were 56 girls on the bus and 10 of us got off for cold medicine. Thank God! Stocking up on cold medicine and rain ponchos I was set. Long beach flea market open "Rain or Shine"! Well that was an understatement. It was free to get in. Why? It was pouring rain every 30 seconds for the first 10 min then stopped. It was nice after that. Bundled up with boots, sweater, leather jacket and poncho I was good. I had my cart my hip pack my hands were free to touch and feel. There weren't as many venders as usual due to the weather, but enough tough sellers who didn't mind there items getting wet. We had only 1 1/2 Hrs. to shop. So not enough time! But considering the weather and less venders, it worked out perfect. In my state of fogginess I recall getting a lot of nice goodies. On my last stop I was wheeling and dealing over an early 1970's skate board. Then a couple of ladies from my group saw me and had said there was a guy selling early 1950's skateboards with the logos on them. Well make my head spin and send me in the right direction. Still leaving the last vender with my 70's Banana board, I headed the opposite way from the bus searching for this skateboard guy. Now the rain and wind started going crazy. Pulling my cart stacked with stuff my poncho was wrapped around my head I Was getting soaked, drenched and sopping wet. Unable to see anything in front of me because the rain was parallel and in my eyes(nice having water proof mascara)I was determined to find this guy. Looking thru raindrops, I found him! really not wanting to do this sale now that I found the boards... I had to. Made my fastest purchase ever and raced back to the bus loaded up. By the time I got to the bus I was dripping wet. I had 1 1/2 hrs to dry off before the next stop in San Diego. I wasn't doing to well by then. But I made it there and back safe but sick and it was well worth it. In a couple days I will post my goodies for you to see.
