Considering June and July has come and gone, I didn't realize I haven't been on my blog since May. I was devoting my time to my "Mermaid swaps" for Les Siren's in Manhattan Beach, California hosted by Kim Caldwell* Artistic Bliss . I joined 3 swaps this time! What was I thinking? But... the finished products are amazing!
"Beach Coquette Collier" hosted by Christine Rose Elle* Dollybelle AtelierCollier (necklace) which each Mermaid had to make 7 fabric flowers and send 7 tiny sea shells to the hostess. There were other ladies that entered the swap doing the same as well. With all the pretties that were accumulated, Christine handmade each collar together with all the handmade flowers and shells for each of us ladies. There were 5 groups (I think) and each groups collars were different.
"Les Sirens Wall hanging assemblage" hosted by Joy Campbell* The Joys of Life
Each Siren that entered this swap made thirteen 3x3 squares in the theme of the Affaire. I had no Idea what or how this hanging was going to turn out. When I opened my envelope there was only one word I could think of... "Perfect"!
*Here is my square and my little bundle of goodies are from my vintage finds.
"Mermaid's Treasure Trinket Chest" hosted by Val Jones*
This swap was amazing! Each Sea Nymph who joined this group got a random name chosen for them with that mermaid's favorite thing's they had to post. You knew who you got, but you didn't know who got you. Then the giver would make a treasure chest filled full of all the pretties her receiver hopefully would love. I had so much fun collecting all the wonderful vintage finds and mermaid themed fatras. I started my collecting the day the swap opened. My treasure box was a vintage green carrying case that I decoupaged images on of lady fish and fancies. My Sea Nymph was Valerie Jones, who knew I would get the hostess!
This is my treasure box I received from Sea Nymph, Cynthia Flores. For a person that doesn't really know me and we spoke only a handful of times, really did a great job. I was so surprised when I received my treasure chest. It was so perfect of "Me" things you would have thought she came over and visited everyday. When we posted the things we like and colors, I didn't get it. I only put like three things down, Sea foam greens, french blues and vintage goodies. Wow! I didn't know what to say... except "Hell ya" "I fricken love it"! "Thank you"! I couldn't wait to look at every little piece of pretty. The weird thing is that I just had bought that mermaid pattern, so when I saw that on the top of my fancy jewelry box, It was as if she new. The starfish she had gotten from an estate sale. He's really cool looking, not like the processed shells from a gift shop. I was also impressed that she took the time to personalize my treasure chest with a scallop shell with the word's "The Tragic Queen of the Sea". Again, Merci beaucoup!
"Les Siren's"... another amazing retreat.
